MyFavoriteThings - Sketch Challenge 688

"Below you’ll find Sketch 688. Create cards, scrapbook layouts, home decor, treat containers, mixed media, etc. using this week’s sketch and be sure to link your project below for a chance at the weekly My Favorite Things Gift Voucher."

In 2024, one of my goals was to delve into the world of card making challenges found across various blogs. Although it took some time to get organized, I recently participated in my second My Favorite Things challenge. Utilizing a vibrant paper pack called "Chasing Rainbows" from Hobby Lobby, I was captivated by its array of rainbow colors, glitter, and embellishments, allowing me to focus more on the card's design than the background.

For this particular card, I opted for a digital rubber stamp from JessicaLynnOriginal Studios, one that my talented 6-year-old daughter had drawn herself. Her enthusiasm to contribute to the website and save earnings for her future deeply inspired me as both an entrepreneur and a mother. Following the sketch challenge guidelines, I incorporated distress oxides to create a sweeping grassy landscape at the card's base, enhancing its visual appeal.

I am so happy with the way this card turned out! I am going to give it to my daughter!

CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge #532

One of my goals for 2024 is to start making more cards and being part of more challenges and swaps. I love it and I really missed the creative side of cardmaking. As I am working on my first book the more I can test out and play with the distress oxide inks the better by book will be. I can't wait to share the next step with you.

My new card for the CAS colors & sketches challenge #532.  I used the colors that they suggested for the challenge alongside of one of my digital stamps, DaisyGnome from www.jessicalynnoriginal.com

I really love how well the colors worked out and I was able to use stencils and distress oxide for the background and I did me best to only use those colors for the background and sky as well. He looks sooo happy out in the forest enjoying the sites and sounds of spring!

MyFavoriteThings - Sketch Challenge 687

So excited to be part of my first Sketch Challenge in a LONG TIME. I wanted to make a card and I found this great Sketch from
MyFavoriteThings and knew the card I wanted to make.

I have this adorable bee that I drew up a few years ago as a digital stamp he is a fat swishy bee. I have been looking for an excuse to use him and my honey comb stencils with my distress oxide inks. I was able to choose a yellow and grey  for the inks to make up the background.

How digital stamps work:

  1. Download the Digital Stamp: After purchasing or obtaining the digital stamp, download it to your computer or device. It's usually in a common image format like JPEG or PNG.
  2. Prepare Your Workspace: Open your preferred software for digital art creation. I used Miscrosoft work or Google Docs to import the image and print it off. Adjust the size and position of the digital stamp as needed for your project. Most software allows you to resize and move objects easily using tools like the Transform or Move tool.
  3. Print or Share: Finally, you can print your digital stamp artwork on paper or share it digitally with others. If printing, use high-quality paper and settings for the best results.

For the yellow paper cuts I used my Brother Scan N' Cut to cut out the oval, flags, and banner. They are all standard cut options that the computer knows so it made it easy to do those. Glued the card together, added the sentimate sticker, and it was ready to use. I love how this came together and the bee looks like it is looking out a front door of the honey comb!!

I love this design and I have a few more ideas on cards I can make.

WoodBlock Wednesday - Custom Rubber Stamps & Card Idea

Happy Woodblock Wednesday!! I am so excited to have been working with Amy on this amazing project. I have been a Super Sponsor for the CoffeeLoverBlogHops since 2015!! April 1,2024 is the 19th Anniversary for JessicaLynnOriginal.com. I have been working on a children's book and a new YouTube Channel, ArtistryinCards.

The first sample I am making is using one of my custom rubber stamps with my Logo for my company. Creating handmade 'Thank you' Cards are so easy and fun. I used distress ink and an amazing cloud stencil from A Colorful Life Design. I just cut the cardstock to 2.5x3.5 inches and then folded in half. This is perfect for a little note to my customers.

The second card that I am making is using some vintage Stampin' Up Wood Block stamps, a digital stamp from my store (Daisy Gnome), hand drawing, distress ink, black ink, and copic markers.

Basic Steps I followed for this Card:

  1. I began by using my cherished distress ink set: Picked Raspberry, Abandoned Coral, Amber, and Carved Pumpkin. With a stencil, I created a vivid and dynamic background that truly captivated me with its blending. I had a pack of stickers with sentiments - picked my favorite!
  2. Following that, I switched gears to a 4x6 sheet of Copic Marker Paper and stamped the charming jar from Stampin' Up, a set I've adored for ages. Being a fan of stamps that ignite creativity, I find endless joy in using them.
  3. As an artist, I have a tendency to add my personal touch to projects, and this one was no exception. I decided to fill the jar with Easter candy, drawing adorable images to bring it to life.
  4. Next, I brought in my latest digital stamp of the Daisy Gnome and colored everything with Copics. Finally, I assembled the images onto the bold background using foam risers. I'm absolutely enamored with the colors I selected and can't wait to hear your thoughts!

If you've ever dreamed of having a custom stamp that reflects your unique style or brand, match your company, wedding, or new house return address, back of your cards, or anything you can dream up.

This is the custom woodblock stamp
that I created for Amy.
I'd be honored to help bring that vision to fruition. There's joy in being able to contribute to someone else's creative journey and witness the delight that comes from seeing their ideas take shape in a practical yet artistic form.
